My system includes an Enermax Liberty 500W psu and an Asus P5LD2

The psu manual indicates that normal psu fan speed is in the range 800

a problem with psu cooling? Should it be higher? Is there anything
that I need to adjust?

Yes. Your brain. Why would Asus Probe have a clue what speed is normal
for a specific PSU fan? It doesn't. It merely works on a reference
which is frequently wrong.
