Cannot find dvd drive on 2nd channel

I have just installed a Gigabyte GA-81945P pro motherboard. If I
install the IDE HD on 1st channel (red) and DVD drive on 2nd channel
(green) - the hd shows up ok but dvd drive is not shown anywhere.

If I put HD on 2nd channel (greenP) and DVD-Drive on 1st channel (red),
the dvd is picked up as master drive and hd is picked up as part of
Raid as IDE0 and attempts to go into windows from the hd and crashes.

Why cant I see the DVD-drive on 2nd channel (green)?
