diskette drive 0 seek faliure

have a dell 4600 , bought a harddrive 250 gig, and dual 1 gig ram .
512mb each. installed both have tried removing them going back to my
original setup because everything runs insanely slow. i decided to
get a system restore done see if that helps, after reboot, the disk
does not read even with the old ram and harddrive, i get the
following message :

diskette drive 0 seek faliure
SATA primary drive 0 not found
SATA secondary drive 0 not found
Primary drive 1 not found

please help :crybaby:
