Hauppauge PVR 350 weirdie

I'm posting this here because the PVR group tends to
be a bunch of ill-tempered sorts, and I don't want them
to know what I've found. That way, us complete amateurs
can get ahead of them. Plus I know the home builders
like these cards in spite of the fact that they are obscure
as Hades.
Symptom: cableTV movies lose sync between video and
audio. I'm not talking about recording or playback. I'm
just talking about ordinary viewing over time in shows
like MASH.
Apparent Fix: Start --> Programs --> Hauppauge -->
and click on PRIMARY. Under that small screen, select
the first box dealing with WinXP Only for Overlay.
The PVRers have been complaining and trying things
to fix this problem every since the 350 came out. Nothing
has worked. All their tweaking and bitching at newbies
has gotten them nowhere. So how did I figure this out?
Heh! I called Hauppauge Tech Support, and that's what
the guy said to do. Ha!
