what are your jumper settings?
Boot From SATA 1
IDE 1: Secondary Slave
IDE2: DVD-RW Secondary Master
bad cable?see if
Try no optical and just the Harddrive as master on the secondary.
performance and booting improves
tried 3 different IDE cables. All OK
If no optical, PC boots fine.
Firstly I was refering to 'jumpers' as in the pins in the back of each IDE
drive.
3 sets of 2 pins one of which is bridged / shorted by a jumper.
MASTER - SLAVE- CS (cable select)
Proper 'configuration' should be:
SATA boot
IDE channel 1 (primary) should have the hard drive set as master and
physically on the end of the ribbon.(80 conductor)
IDE channel 2 (secondary) should have the optical set as master also on the
end of the ribbon (40 or 80 conductor)
.
