|The routine stuff was restarting after a windows update and I accidently
|hit
|shutdown instead or restart. I put in the new power switch 2 weeks ago
|and
|it worked fine until now. It is not the first time I have to wire or
|rewire something on this system. There is not a part that is less than 2
|years old, and all of them are salvage parts.

|
|The modified switch will still turn the pc on, then I have to turn the
|switch to off as it shuts off on its own. The PSU is not the problem I
|have swapped it out with 2 others of similarer wattage. I have also
|booted
|the system with no drives, and only onboard vid/audio support. As far as
|the OS is concerned, sorry to do this but IT IS NOT A OS PROBLEM. It
|will
|not go to post, it spins up the fans, hard drives, and case lights. All
|the wires are attached, I have checked and rechecked all the jumpers and
|connections. I have checked the CPU and heatsink/fan combo as well as
|the
|RAM and have reseated them as well. I have an Aero fan controller with
|temp settings and all my temps were fine. My CPU was at around 85 the
|drives, were about the same and the case was at about 70.

|I agree with what you are saying, I have done tech support before but the
|only thing I recently did before the last shutdown was to update the
|drivers for my wireless remote. I already checked out the drivers on an
|almost identical computer and they are fine.

|I agree whole-hardly, that is why I need your help :). I will stake all
|my knowledge that it is hardware, not software though.

Tell us about the switch that you installed. Is it a momentary switch,
toggle switch, rocker switch, light switch, what?

I just tried a different switch and it still did it, but I am going to play
around with it some more. I think that it might be the switch. Like some
of you have said, it was the last thing that I changed on a hardware level.
