I recommend just using the stock OS FireWall and using a FireWall appliance or NAT Router

Too much "noise" generated by software FireWall apps. as well as the extra overhead the
consume on the OS.

The only time, in my POV, to use an application FireWall is on a notebook that travels to
many LANs and WANs.

Yeah well you just contradicted yourself, dickted, by first saying you
recommend the stock OS firewall, which I assume you mean what comes
bundled with Windows XP or 7, and then you say an application firewall
generates too much "noise".

So essentially you are saying that the difference between the built in
Windows firewall and a commercial third party firewall is that the
latter has "noise" while the former does not.

If we believe you.

Gee thanks for that information, Microsoft shill.
