No such OS. Windows 95 is one OS and Windows XP is another and WinXP came out around 2002.

If you mean that people have repackaged a Norton product for redistribution, then yes it has
been
Norton has become bloadware and dogs down a system to a crawl making simple acts on their PC
slow.

The WinXP built-in FireWall is better then nothing but a FireWall appliance, even a NAT
Router, is far better. Hardware FireWall apliance are easy to implement and manage and thus
"user friendly". Such software as WallWatcher can allow you to monitor FireWall/NAT Router
activity.

The two modes of operation of anti malware software are "On Access" and "On Demand".
On Demand - When the user causes a scan to be perform either manually or via a schedule.
On Access - When the anti virus application scans files written and/or read to media for
viral signatures or through heuristics looking for malicious or exploit code.

Only one fully installed AV application should be installed to perofrm "On Access" scanning.
Having two or more will cause conflicts and may interfere with each other capability and may
detract from the capaibity to dtect malware and will degrade performance unneccesarily.

As I also noted, you should never perform concurrent On Demand scans, only consecutive On
Demand scans. If you perform concurrent On Demand scans the software may conflict with each
other and will significantly degrade the overall performance of the system and thus all
scanninmg functions.
