.This has a simple activate/deactivate choice.As you mention though ,an
reinstallation or repair (im also assuming thats part of the free AVG
installer) should put the context scan back where it belongs.

You are probably right as that .dll is related to shell extension too.On
my system if i deactivate the shell extension module,the context menu
disappears in explorer..if i activate it,its present again.I do not
however use the free version ,but the ISS version,so i am assuming that
activation/deactivation of the shell extension module in the free version
will behave exactly the same.If the avgse.dll is missing or corrupted
then a repair or reinstallation should also fix this.
