In the May 8 issue of PC Mag- I see a comparison of AV products- with MS's Live OneCare at the bottom. Is it really that bad?
For an actual independent review (of coverage) rather than PC Mag's extreme advertiser bias (often their "reviews" are nothing more than what the vendor gave them), go read http://www.av-comparatives.org/. OneCare sucks. Guess they should've bought a better antivirus program than RAV.
To show how ignorant is Microsoft, they followed WinPatrol's scheme of polling for changes to key areas but obviously that detects the changes too late. Anytime Windows Defender (or WinPatrol) tells you that something changed, well, yup it got changed anywhere from a few seconds to a minute ago. Other intrusion prevention software, like Prevx, intercepts the changes and pends it (i.e., the change is not allowed unless you say so or said so before and saved that response). Basically Windows Defender has to perform an Undo function. Too late. It's already been done by the time you get told about it.
