Thanks for the reply. I suppose if I have to choose I will pick McAfee as
I've just renewed it for 12 month. The thing is, they seem to be working
fine together it's only when AVG. updates I have to reboot. I'm sure there
is an answer somewhere that would stop this freeze-up?

You should not run two on-access scanners at the same time as it has a
stong tendency to cause them to conflict. There is really no point in
doing so anyhow. Just choose the better of the two and go with that.
