Good afternoon, the following is a problem I am having trouble with:
(I am running W2000)
When I last did my Nortons update I got the following message-

"The following updates have been aborted:
Norton AntiVirus Virus Definitions has 1 aborted update(s). Reason: LU1875:
This update failed during its preprocessing welcome text phase."

Nortons provided a downloadable tool called Trojan.Abwiz removal tool which
has to be run in safe mode. Did this. Then when tool finished its run it
provided a message : 'did not find Trojan.Abwiz on your computer.' Ran
removal tool 2nd time, same message rec'd. ('did not find Trojan.Abwiz on
your computer.')
Tried live update again & got the original message i.e. "The following
updates have been aborted:
Norton AntiVirus Virus Definitions has 1 aborted update(s). Reason: LU1875:
This update failed during its preprocessing welcome text phase."
Thus not able to now keep virus definitions up to date.
Considering to uninstall Nortons and then re-install. But concerned that
this itself may fail i.e. that the uninstall may not actually remove all
components of Nortons. Many thanks any help, much appreciate.

trojan.abwiz is just one of the possible reasons you could be receiving that error... have you tried using the intelligent updater to get your updates (http://tinyurl.com/kxjkp)?
