I have recently regretted posting the HJT post because it is not
considered polite to do so.

Nothing wrong with what you did, Pcbutts has been asked (and told)
repeatedly not to encourage those postings and why. He refuses to do
as suggested, and has a markedly antisocial attitude to add to his many
other faults.

Right now, I am trying several things that David Lipman has suggested
and will post back when I know more.

Several others have suggested things that I will try if Dave's things
don't work out.

I don't see David's post in this thread, but...

David often suggests some downloads (from legitimate sites) in order to
eliminate a complaint as being one of the many that the tools are capable
of removing for you. He follows with 'report back results' because often
this is just the first step in the troubleshooting. Oftentimes the problem
is resolved at this first step, but that is not really the aim. Do follow thru
with David's advice even if pcbutts is able to remedy your complaint.
David's choice of tools will often have more scope than just someones
idea of what HJT revealed entries to remove.
