| Avast says that x:\program\antivir pec\avrep.dll is Win32:agent-it (file is

| Is it a faulty alarm or is there another explanation?

That happens sometmes. One AV appication incorrectly flags another AV applications utility
as malware.
Avast has long been know to falsely declare Trend Sysclean as being infected with the
VBS/Redlof.
If you are unsure...
Please submit a sample of "avrep.dll" to Virus Total --
http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html
The submission will then be tested against many different AV vendor's scanners.
That will give you an idea what it is and who recognizes it. In addition, unless told
otherwise, Virus Total will provide the sample to all participating vendors.
You can also submit a suspect, one at a time, via the following email URL...
mailto:scan@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=SCAN
When you get the report, please post back the exact results.
I hade to recover mentioned file (avrep.dll) from Avast vault. Antivir
Scanner didn't start without it.
