That is the worry, people use things like avg free and avast etc and
reckon they are magic and they never had a problem, and recommend it
to other people.
What i say is,.. dont worry about what these freebies can detect,
worry about what they do not detect, i have seen machines where the
owner thought avg was updating daily or whatever and they actually
never were!
If people use a freebie, they really should back it up with an online
scan from kaspersky, norton, mcafee or similar
There is just too many unknowns with the freebies
I've been using Norton A/V since 2002...updated to 2005 and regularly use
their Live Updates...but when it never found any viruses I decided to get a
second opinion.
So I ran an online scan with Bit Defender, and it found 21 viruses in 59
infected files and another 13 suspect files, all of which it deleted.
So...is Norton A/V not very good...or is Bit Defender better....or (paranoia
time) could/would Bit Defender say it found all those viruses hoping I'd buy
the software??
