I have also heard of a previous AV that was not completely uninstalled interfering with the install of an AV. You may want to check that angle.

Did you have NAV installed previously? CWS is easier to remove than Symantec Software.
Don Pelotas put this together for removing other AV apps, particularly NAV, prior to the installation of KAV:
