Shut down all the Symantec services before running the uninstall program. Active services cannot be removed.

Aren't the assorted Symantec uninstall programs smart enough to do that first?
Bob,
Symantec uninstall programs? LOL. It's been 6 months since I have had NAV on my system, and I am still fighting those ... well, you know ... people. It took me 4 months to figure out how to get rid of all of the 16-bit choice.com files that were scattered throughout my HD in various Symantec sub-directories. I finally re-read Eric Howes' notes on Enough is Enough!:
Everytime I install or re-install a significant program/application, I re-run HijackThis and save the log file as a point of reference. This item keeps showing up:
O23 - Service: Symantec Network Drivers Service (SNDSrvc) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe (file missing)
I tell HijackThis to get rid of it, and it always, like a bad penny,
comes back. The pointer must be hidden somewhere, because I have manually cleaned the Registry of all Symantec/Norton entries. The terms uninstall and Symantec/Norton don't belong in the same sentence. I wonder if re-formatting the HD would work. LOL.
Ron :-) .
