Re: Error Number: 0x800CCC19 + Norton AV

Hi I am a bit stumped on this and I am after advice. After
receiving an update from Norton I have a problem with receiving
emails. I get the following error message.

"A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Account:
"my account", Server: 'pop."my account".co.uk', Protocol: POP3,
Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19"

If I disable "Norton AV" I can receive email no problem. If I do a
system restore to before the update all is OK, but update NAV
again and the problem reappears. I have searched NAV help section
without any luck, and I don't want to keep turning off NAV each
time I wish to check my email.

Any pointer in the right direction would be appreciated.

This question pops up quite often in my ISPs local help newsgroups. The answer is always: disable Norton AV scanning of incoming and outgoing emails. And the troubled people always say, "Thanks. It works after I did that."

I don't use Norton myself, so I am just passing on what I've read elsewhere. There must be a bunch of bugs with the new versions.
