I'll second the the opinions by Steve on the twoloons link.  Home
roasting is worth the trouble.  The coffee we sell is roasted in the
Diedrich.  The coffee I use at home is roasted in the bread machine.

I'll add another reason for home roasting.  It's enjoyable to me.
And at home, I can have a beer while I'm roasting.

I second that.
I roast with a bread machine/heatgun combo and the results are always
different depending on my blend (I typically mix a couple of South
Americans, a Cuban if I can get it and a small-bean Ethiopian) but
always rewarding. And even if I lose some weight in the process,
buying for around $9 a kg here in Australia beats speciality roasters
who can charge anything between $25 and $35. Cheapest supermarket
quality roast is around $18 so I'm still way ahead.
