It's very simple to install an in-line switch in the power cord although you have to observe the amp ratings.

Even easier would be to get a small power strip with a switch on it and plug into that. No cutting required.

I had the opportunity to get out and actually look at some Bunn coffeemakers this morning, and I really liked three models:
The A-10 fits the space we have and has the features we like [vacation switch and warmer on/off], but I don't like the decanter as well as the Easy Pour models.
The VP17-1would also fit the space, but it lacks the on/off switch for the water tank. It would have to be unplugged when not in use, and the outlet is inside out coffee bar. We have to open the cabinet doors and remove items to get to the outlet. The VPR is the other model we like, but it too lacks the on/off switch. I wonder how difficult/safe it would be to install an on/off switch on the base of either of these two coffeemakers.
The VPR is rather large, but it would be great for those monthly occasions when we need to serve both regular and decaffinated coffee. I have been using two Krups coffeemakers for those events, for we found that the thermal pots just didn't work as well. Apparently if they can't see the coffee, they don't refill for themselves.
