In <BIadnfVzePpVL4fWnZ2dnUVZ_t-dnZ2d@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>, on Sat, 5 DecThanks for the information. I would have no problem with two pots in 11 minutes; I was just concerned with heating to the right temperature. On the A-10, can the warming tray be shut off? Or is it necessary to pour into a separate insulated carafe? I really think I would prefer the A-10.

I have been impressed with reviews of the Bunn commercial coffee brewers,The Bunn A-10 would be my first choice, again because of size, if it had a
but my coffee counter is just too small to hold one. I could barely get
this model on the counter. I like the thermal carafe design, and the
machine does have some stainless instead of being all plastic. The
advertising specs say it heats to 200 degrees, but the heater is only 800
watts. Does anyone have any experience with this model? Is it
satisfactory?
thermal carafe available for it. So far, I haven't found one that fits it.
We have both an A-10 and the BTX-B. The A-10 has
a footprint of 6-3/4" x 12-3/4". The BTX-B is the
same width (*maybe* 1/16" wider), and 13-1/2" deep.
The A-10 has a rectangular footprint while the BTX-B
has a semi-circular rear end, so the actual footprint
area is probably the same.
The A-10 does have an adjustable thermostat (not
externally accessible) while the B series has a fixed
thermostat.
The BTX-B insulated carafe is nice, especially the
newer one (tapered) with the improved pour spout.
With the older carafe (straight sided) we ALWAYS
made sure to pour the first cup over the sink.
That's not necessary with the new one.
As to "only" 800 watts, that results in a recovery
time of 8 minutes or so -- two pots in 11 minutes.
About the only other difference I can think of is
that the baskets are different (though interchangeable).
The B basket is 1/4" smaller at the bottom and tapers
evenly to the top, while the A-10 basket has the larger
bottom, and steps up to the top.
Without plugging holes and measuring volume, I
couldn't say for sure that the A-10 basket is larger
volume-wise, but the B does *seem* to have more of a
tendency to bloom over with freshly roasted coffee
(especially light-roasted Africans) than the A.
I haven't seen a thermal carafe for the A-10 either
but I haven't really looked all that hard.
Both models make excellent coffee, and are well
built. Our A-10 was bought as a refurb about 7 years
ago. It's needed nothing more than a couple of thermal
fuses. The first BTX-B jumped off the counter in the
travel trailer and landed on the floor, yet still
worked fine. It wasn't until it jumped out of the sink
and landed on the floor a second time that it developed
a leak, and only gave a few more pots before we replaced
it.
The second BTX-B is less than a year old, and
still rides in the sink, but we've figured out how
to secure it better.
