Maybe, if you can deal with the Technivorm's quirks and inconveniences.
- The Technivorm has a very heavy (and too long) cord, which comes out of the
left side. If your counter layout doesn't afford you a suitable location with an
outlet to the left, it's a real pain to deal with.
- Recommended brewing methods involving manipulating the flow switch on the
brewing basket don't generally work, unless you stand by and open and close the
valve repeatedly as the basket fills with water.
- Lack of an auto-shut-off may be a safety shortcoming; it's definitely an
irritation.
- In side-by-side tests with my old Krups 209, the Technivorm brews at 4 deg. F
higher temperature. The difference drops to 2 deg F if the Krups water is
pre-warmed to abround 100 deg. F. Either way, with a variety of beans, we can't
tell the difference in the resulting brews.
Anyone want a mint Technivorm Moccamaster, used to brew one pot a day for two
weeks, for $225? Paid $265 from Storehouse Coffee.
