Great thread at HB. Fun to watch someone else do it.
As far as the gicleur fittings (hope we're talking about the same
ones), it is absolutely critical that you be able to access them on a
regular basis. The micron screens should be changed out a couple of
times yearly. Using 2 wrenches in opposing force has always gotten
them open for me.
Did you find micron screens at the flowmeters?
I use teflon tape wherever I can make it work.

Also,  do I need or should I  use any thread sealant on the boiler
fittings and all others? Is this a good practice or overly precautious
or even necessary?

You have to remove the gicleurs to get the screens out, but you have
to put them back in without the screens to run the group. I keep a
couple of drilled-out ones for this purpose....al

The hydraulic path can be confusing sometimes. In the first fire-up
stages of an older machine, particularly one that has been sitting,
it's a good idea to pull out the gicleurs and micron screens until
enough water is drawn through the group to tell the path is clean. If
this machine has an economizer on the boiler intake, that can also be
a source of blockage.
