Here's my brand-new PID kit, installed today. I actually installed it
yesterday and ran into some trouble, but Jim in the States was able to
resolve my issue immediately via the internet.
As you can see if you take the time to cruise towww.coffeesnobs.com.au
via the link below, I've opted for the full-blown installation via a
half-inch hole drilled through the black iron strip down the Silvia's
side. Although the pic shows Jim's suggested setting of 228 F (109 C),
I've since set it at 224 (106.7 C), which seems better here at my
altitude of 1065 meters above sea-level. I've left the PID's settings
at Fahrenheit instead of Celsius because of the slightly more
effective temp control Fahrenheit provides. But give me a week and
I'll probably move back to Celsius!
If anyone with an unpidded Silvia still needs recommendations, I
endorse Jim's mod to the full. Just go to Pidkits.com. End of unpaid
ad ..... and thanks again, Jim.

I've only played with one of Jim's PID'd Silvia's, but what I saw I
liked. It looked like the leads were all tinned and everything fit
together perfectly. I also liked that the kit can be removed and the
machine returned to stock form: Important if you wanted to make a
warranty claim.
Plus Jim helped me develop the kits I have for the Gaggia's, and I've
had considerable email exchanges with him. I can say that he's really
a nice guy!
I would have trimmed this, but for posterity's sake I left it intact
because it's all true.
Jim's kits are exemplary. Everything, including the instructions and
Jim's support are top flight.
I have and will confidently recommend his products.
It took me less than an hour to put it together,
Can you give me Jim's site? I know it's been posted here before. But if
it's great, hey, it won't hurt to post again,
:-)))
Thanks soooo much.
