Don't know what to expect.
Maybe around a $100???
Steamer combined boiler with no pump maybe for $50 or $100. Water
boiled under pressure for then releasing into a something resembling
the front of an espresso machine. Steamed coffee for other than an
accepted extraction at around 215F. Over a $100, there's various small-
block, thermalblocks, and miniscule boilers (which are distinguished
by discrete heater and temperature regulating elements), which
includes the pump behind them to drive the water through the coffee,
although, due to the size of the block, are a common affect of
uncertain temperature extraction. Great fun with Ebay items, money
withstanding, including Gaggia and a few others that are close in
concept -- notably with the Gaggia, a surprisingly well constructed
unit with quality parts inside a plastic case. I got one for $150,
although prices are up since then on a slightly evolved model. Gaggia
is also a popular modification item and wouldn't lack for fair
adherents among coffee forums at the low end of pricing an espresso
maker.
Also may as well expect to regard grinders and coffee sources,
inclusive of home-roaster units, among possibilities for some care
when exercising a latitude for extracting coffee.
