We have an Astoria machine at work. I am getting a 30ml shot in
between 25-30 seconds, with a freshly opened pack of beans ground just
before the pour. There is a water filter inline. The resulting
shot has a very pale, cream-coloured crema, and it tastes bland. I
use the same beans at home in a Carimali machine, with similar pour
times and volume, and get a shot with a decent dark honey brown crema,
and decent taste.
What can cause this sort of difference? I get repeatable results in
both machines. Both machines are set to approx 1.2 bars boiler
pressure, and 9 bars group head pressure.
Water temp, and check that the brewing path is properly cleaned.
