Howdy Danny!
God, it must be a slow day for you to go off on me like that. A
moderated group is as much in the spirit of "usenet" as alt.coffee is
- in fact the first group I participated in was moderated. And I can
almost guarantee it predates anything posted on a.c., in fact it
predated the term "Usenet" as Al Gore named it when he built the
internet (think ARPANET).
I am the owner & moderator of the Gaggia User's Group (along with
Susan), and I can assure you there's no attempt to muzzle anyone or
inflict my POV on anyone. The sight is a repository for information
useful to Gaggia owners (user manuals, parts diagrams, how-to's, etc.)
that cannot be stored in alt.coffee.
Surely, you're not condemning someone for joining a moderated group
are you? Come over & take a look - we're doing nothing subversive over
there, and I doubt that you'd think we threatened a.c., if anything I
think of the group as part of the alt.coffee family.
Cheerio,
Tex

Robert, you started posting here, creating some animosity. You
settled in.
You started pitching fights against DaveB. You disagreed with
advertising/selling.
You now advertise and sell.
You now want to encourage people away from the group, whilst also
suggesting that a forum might be a nicer place to be (even though it
will, of course, be moderated by someone (your kind self?) and
therefore not as neutral or even in the spirit of, usenet, the place
you liked to be in the past.
Please, either contribute to the group or dissapear off to your
friendly little forum, where your ego will doubtless have much more
room to expand...
