Re: portafilter pressure gauge

Howdy Craig!
So you're saying the Silvia OPV is heating up the water in the reservoir? I
know the old Baby's & Coffee's had the OPV fitted to the boiler instead of
to the inlet water fitting, but I can't believe any current machine maker
could do something so dumb.

Or did I misunderstand your usual cryptic answer?

Ahhh well, now we're definitely talking apples & oranges. I was referring
to the Gaggia self-priming valve that route hot water & even steam
directly from the top of the boiler back into the reservoir, causing the
reservoir water to heat to ~150F.

And I'm talking Silvia here..
Craig.

The OPV's are rerouting water from the pump before, not after, it enters
the boiler. I doubt that it's all that hot.

Just out of curiosity Craig, how is this bad for vibe pumps? Does the
pump really care where the water is going as long as it's going
somewhere at nine bar?

I mean hot water that's picked up by the pump Rob! You're the guy that
posted about Ulka's only being rated to 25C max input feed water temp.
Craig.
