A PID is just a very accurate & adjustable thermostat. The OEM mechanical
tstat has a swing of 20 - 30 degrees Fahrenheit above and below the factory
preset (40 - 60 degree dead-band). This means that depending on where the
Carezza is at in the heating cycle it could be too hot or too cool for best
performance. The dead-band fort a PID is typically set at 6 - 10 degrees,
and can be adjusted even finer.

Is it worth it? Only if you want to taste the subtle variations of flavors
that's in that coffee you pay so much for. You decide!
