I didn't say the project was impossible. I merely described issues
that made me abandon it. The initial cost may be higher than you
budgeted, because old MDF's still have market value. The effort needed
to prepare the grinder for refinishing may be greater than expected,
and the result might not last that long. But if you're just going to
sell it to someone who likes nice looking equipment ...
It's worth doing once, as an exercise; we'll see what
comes out of this exercise.
If it goes smoothly, be wary of extrapolating from that one result.
