What you refer to as spurious posts don't show up
on my server; probably because I have it set to
filter anything crossposted to more than 4 groups.
It cuts down a lot of the noise.
Have all the regulars moved somewhere else?
Not all, but it does seem that many have taken the
bulk of their activity to web forums. Most still check
in here pretty frequently though.
