Possibly a good reason to not simmer tomato sauce in unlined aluminum.
As you know, there are many things that can and do fail routinely on home
espresso machines, it is unusual for serious boiler corrosion to set in
before many other problems occur. Gaggia's boiler system works
extraordinarily well, if they changed material they'd have to make several
collateral changes (like put the elements on the inside) which could impact
the machine's performance or durability in unexpected ways.

Less information than you ever thought possible:http://www.demitasse.net
Aluminum is a LESS desireable metal for construction of espresso
machines.
And, BTW, I have owned and like Gaggias.
But, based on servicing hundreds of them -- scale and corrosion is a
far bigger issue than those machines with SS or brass boilers.
In both in the semi's and the supers.
