about transforming voltage. 120V is 120V whether it was transformed from
240 or transformed from some other voltage out on the pole - the machine
doesn't care how it got there. The frequency in SG is a little different
but not enough to have a bad effect either. Who "advised" you?
Now what you need is a real 1500w transformer , not some dinky little plug
in travel converter, which is a heavy thing (around 25 lbs.) Like this:

But if you use one of these your machine (indeed almost all your 120V
appliances) would think that they are "back home" and would work just fine.

I have been advised strongly against using this machine with a
transformer. It is thought to significantly reduce the life of all
the electrical components that aren't rated for the voltage/hz.
basically, anything that heats up doesn't do well on a transformer.
that's the word on the street anyway.
