Today was the day that I broke my own record on the FreshRoast Plus.
I have now done 1001 roasts on this little machine, and it is still going
strong.

There are those who do not favor this roaster, and that is their privilege.
Some people drive Lexus cars and others like myself are happy with an old
Honda. Had I known about used popcorn poppers being used as roasters, I
probably would have begun with that route instead of my former Hearthware
Precision, which gave up the ghost at 599 roasts.

Part of my secrets of longevity with machinery is taking care of them.
I weigh out the 64 grams of green beans on a little My Weigh MX-200 scale,
allowing a tolerance of +-.1 gram. I take it up to first crack, then
switch to the cool cycle for 15 seconds, and then back to the heat cycle.
This last cycle is where I adjust for the degree of roasts desired.
I always brush out the chaff between roasts, and allow a cool down of
fifteen minutes before the next roast. No magic, just care. :-)

How old is the FR Plus? I look after my roasters too, currently my Hearthware Precision has 681 roasts & still going strong. This was my very first roaster & I've been using it since Mar1/01!
