So, why doesn't someone start the coffee equivelent of FOSS for
espresso hardware? You pay $40+ for a naked (I hate the prhase
"crotchless") to learn how to produce the best basket/tamp for a pull.
But, what good is it after you've learned how? After you have your
grind, dose, distribution, tamp, etc, down pat and can do it in your
sleep, what good is it? Don't tell my you're still using the darn
thing. Whatever. Howzabout offering it up for trade, 2nd hand sale,
or just plain ol' pass along for free to those who've yet to refine
their technique. It couldn't be just bragging rights of having a
naked P/f, could it?
Well for one thing, naked pfs are easier to keep clean. I use em for
just that purpose. I don't split my shots up into two drinks - ever.
