Craig Andrews observes:
Hmmm.., people aren't interested in sayin' anything about a good
outcome story eh?? {:-(
FTWGAS ... I'm jealous, having just aggravated a back injury while
trying to remove the shear pin from my grinder. I didn't realize that
the pin needed to be smoothed and/or its slot cleaned and now it seems
hopelessly stuck. Frankly, I'm disconsolate. The grinder was in very
good condition before I laid hands on it, and last year's MRI had the
radiologist recommending surgery.
On a brighter note, I think I can remove the part by shearing it,
removing the burr carrier, and then attacking the remainder. Or maybe
shrinking it with dry ice ... but part of me wants to believe that I
can loosen it by knocking it sideways, without damaging a bearing/race.
In any case, it will be a while before "it slid right off" becomes part
of my vocabulary.
Bernie, could you post a photo of your flower bed somewhere? That would
be nice ...
Felix
