No it isn't.
Spam is messages spewed across multiple newsgroups.
UCE is unsolicited email sent to a person, and need not be sent to
multiple people.
usenet postings, and using a rather loose definition of spam.
Eh? My loose definition matches less than your (presumably precise)
definition. Thats a remarkably elastic definition of loose you're
using. Or maybe it's 'definition' you haven't defined.
refuse to get drawn into this and why the hell are you arguing about
symantics on a word,
Because someone made a claim (namely that what constitutes spam
depends upon the charter present in a group) which I consider to be
wrong. That's the way usenet works - someone says something, and
other people comment on it. Traditionally the comments are biased
towards disagreement, becasue "me too" is frowned upon.
Thats the whole problem here everyones so caught up in being right
about something, they lose the big picture.
There is no big picture. I'm not trying to reach any big picture
conclusion, and have not at any time claimed to be. I'm correcting
one small error in a posting made by someone.
And you should cite your sources. heres mine:
Websters:
Ah yes, the place that 'proves' that espresso is made by forcing steam
through ground coffee. That's a reliable source.
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=espresso
SPAM itself:
Obviously a cooked-meat producer is the definitive authority on
computer terminology.
