That's been tried. they keep coming back.

As to the absurd notion that people are annoyed or "firghtened away" by
the dialogue here is just absurd. NO ONE has to follow this lame
thread which is now at 112 posts! Others may be amused by it,
entertained or disgusted by it. Just like the "telly" or the "cinema",
danny. I have not seen any swearing here, curse words, racism or any
of that the whole damn family could read -- at gun point or not at gun
point.

Heck, I am even finding myself AGREEING with some things 'ol Harmon is
saying!!

What we need is a new machine or process to haggle over. Things are very
stagnant right now. I haven't run the numbers buy I'd bet at least 50% of
the posts are either Rancilio/Gaggia related or degenerate into that
direction. So what's new in the world of coffee; hmmmm, not much is there?

The reason (at least partly) that the group is stagnating is precisely
due to the troublesome few. A new poster appears and either reads a
few threads and scurries off again, or posts a question and gets a
couple of contenscious replies. Not very welcoming. Even the
regulars can't be bothered to correct the misinformation that a few
posters put out, for fear of the fierce attacks that follow, rather
than the reasoned discussion that would have taken place in the past.

I used to discuss commercial lever machines, but since they are mostly
ridiculed for not being a Silvia or Cimbali (or have much use for a
PID) I gave up defending a technology that has produced over 100,000
shots without breakdown for me.

People used to discuss Vac pots, which (when in glass), can produce
the cleanest tasting coffee there is. But they can't be PID'ed and
don't sit in a shiny housing with buttons on.

Same with Moka pots.

Same with home roasting.

Those people have had enough of the dominance of one or two
argumentative posters.
