I appreciate your reply. I realize that there are a lot of very
knowledgeable people out here on the internet. Actually I am not one of
them. I really just found that I enjoyed finding, trying and collecting
the various brands of vacuum pots. Like someone said, "the bug bit".
Really I don't even have to own lots of them, but I do enjoy seeing how
different models work. After a bit I may weed out all but a few I
really become attached to.
Also I am not a computer expert either. Posting photos, setting up web
pages, pasteing links is frankly something I haven't learned much about
as yet. But that was one of the benifits to a Yahoo Group, it pretty
well takes care of its self and members can easily add photos to the
site for others to see.
I just knew from another group I belong to that I enjoyed the
interaction of other collectors and was seeking a format that would fit
that need. As you mention there may be plenty of them already.

Danny,
There is nothing wrong with this site, which quite frankly I wasn't
really familiar with when we envisioned the creation of a yahoo group
on the subject. Yes I had run the idea past Matthew and Brian. Mathew
suggested I post a message about the grouup here, so I did. Yahoo
groups have a place to include everyones photos, and messages can be
sent to your address or not. Those may also be features here? Also
rather than multi-topic sites we envisioned one devoted to the vacuum
coffee maker. If there is no interest surely it will just die as an
idea. I will probably become a contented member here.
Usenet is just a discussion medium. Alt.coffee is a discussion group
(text only), and alt.binaries.coffee is the place to post binaries
(pics etc). It's not a forum (as per web forums etc) and is not
connected with Google etc, although Google stores all posts to all
text groups, so it's a great resource for looking through the
archives. It's a bit archaic, since it predates the WWW and is best
viewed through a newsreader. It's not designed for personal contact -
posts are public, as are the replies, and you don't need to be a
member to join in.
I'm not suggesting that you don't have a Google group, just that there
is a wealth of information here, including the likes of Matthew and
others who are/were active contributers.
I would also imagine that http:/www.coffeegeek.com has an active vac
pot following, but not a specific forum.
