Danny,
There is nothing wrong with this site, which quite frankly I wasn't
really familiar with when we envisioned the creation of a yahoo group
on the subject. Yes I had run the idea past Matthew and Brian. Mathew
suggested I post a message about the grouup here, so I did. Yahoo
groups have a place to include everyones photos, and messages can be
sent to your address or not. Those may also be features here? Also
rather than multi-topic sites we envisioned one devoted to the vacuum
coffee maker. If there is no interest surely it will just die as an
idea. I will probably become a contented member here.
Usenet is just a discussion medium. Alt.coffee is a discussion group (text only), and alt.binaries.coffee is the place to post binaries (pics etc). It's not a forum (as per web forums etc) and is not connected with Google etc, although Google stores all posts to all text groups, so it's a great resource for looking through the archives. It's a bit archaic, since it predates the WWW and is best viewed through a newsreader. It's not designed for personal contact - posts are public, as are the replies, and you don't need to be a member to join in.
I'm not suggesting that you don't have a Google group, just that there is a wealth of information here, including the likes of Matthew and others who are/were active contributers.
I would also imagine that http:/www.coffeegeek.com has an active vac pot following, but not a specific forum.
