Gene Cafe Roaster

Whoof!

300 grams - control temperature and time and only £250!

Look - I'm on my third Alp (actually the first was Prof B's one that he got
from a SCAA and he cooked it first use - and the second,um, caused me to
replace the old washhouse with a poncy new studio) and the thrid has one
blade missing from the fan, you have to run it through a bean less cycle;
then a beaned cycle but set it to cool when the sides melt a bit more and
then the final cycle to, probably, overroast them. Interesting roast
profile.

I think i have had 4 Precisions. I ordered the first one to be sold in
England (our London friend got his before me though becuase he was closer to
Andronicas). The 4th is in the loft becuase it was cheap from a market
coffee stall. But each time I use it, I mentally tick of another one of its
100 lives.

I binned the Whirly pop and still have the prima popcorn roaster.

So i want a new one. But I don't want to be an Early Adopter.

I'd like to see one - and your comments post receipt will be much
appreciated.

I love this bit from the website :-

" Due to very hot temperature inside the chamber or chaff collector
during roasting, the skin may
catch fire. Just calm down and follow the measures described in
the below.

. In case the green beans inside the chamber catch fire
Do not panic and press TEMP button to stop rotation. Then,
remove the chamber and pour
the burning green beans in a safe place(sink, outside and etc).
* When moving it, be cautions of getting burned.

. In case the skin of green beans inside the chaff collector
catches fire
After the skins are burnt, it will be automatically
distinguished. Do not panic and tend the place.

The Caffé-Rosto (Imex) is very well made in glass, stainless steel and
bakelite. It roasts well but is noisy but with a thermometer through
the hole in the lid it's possible to control the roasting rather well
by end temperature, time and some experience. It's sensitive for the
surrounding temperature. A machine that costs about 100$ less than the
Hottop and has the same capacity and is quite new on the market and
"should last a couple of years" is The Gene Café. It seems very well
made and is marketed in Europe now by HasBean. I've just ordered one!
