| With all due respect Steve, I believe the closer you get to the
| Equator, the more shade coffee needs. IMHO Arabica, which is what we
| grow, needs adequate sun and well draining soil.

Well, everything does better with adequate sun, that's what
adequate means. But judging by the little bushes growing under
my care at work, they're in the indoor plant category on low light
tolerance. Like a lot of tropical forest understory plants. But
mine do get some direct sun in the morning, on the lately rare
occasion it's available, and I'm sure that helps them. We're
within a week or so of flowering on the larger one, by the looks
of it - anyone have an idea about pollination, will this
A) take care of itself, B) need some help, C) have no chance
without a second flowering tree?

If you're fairly serious about growing a larger specimen, note
that the typical indoor plant small pot actually has several
individual stems, maybe half a dozen. These plants will compete
with each other as long as they're in the same pot. I don't think
I'd try to separate them, just kill all but one. The survivor will
be spindly for a few years - they don't branch out much - but I
think it will pay off later, in the 6 foot range. Of course, if
you don't have a good, moderately well lit space maybe 12 feet
high, maybe you should ignore this advice.
