I got the chrome one. It's much shinier than Silvia, but it matches
her portafilter, haha. Just note where it was when you got it and you
can go ahead and find the zero point. It won't hurt anything (well,
probably not) and at least you will know where it is, but I bet you
will end up somewhere near where it was shipped for a 50ml shot in 25
seconds from 15 grams of espresso. You may never get any kind of
reproducable shot timing until you get a good tamp, however. At least
I was frustrated initially before I got one that fit snugly in the
basket and ended up picking a different grinder setting once I got my
technique down a bit. Now I seem to get it right about 33% of the
time. 8)
Actually, now that you have your handbasket open with a Silvia and
Macap in it you might as well start adding things like a good 58mm
tamper, a stainless milk steaming pitcher, a backflush disk, a
grouphead brush, some Urnex or Joe Glo backflush detergent, some
descaler, a nice sized grinder brush, a bottomless portafilter with a
La Marzocco triple basket, and some Bodum Pavina shot glasses. It's
evil, I know.
Oh, and if you are at all like me it makes an unholy mess of coffee
grounds and drips on your counter. The tray under the Macap won't stop
much of it. Invest in some absorbent kitchen towels to clean the
counter and dry out the portafilter basket between shots, preferrably
brown in color (because they soon will be that color anyway, hehe).
