Does anyone know where I could purchase the base for a tamper? I see
Reg Barber is selling bases on his website, but they are quite pricy
(over $20 for just the base). Is there nothing that could serve this
purpose that is available for cheaper? Thanks for any help you can
offer.

I noticed that www.espressoparts.com has just started offering not only bases, but now also the male and female threads, for just the purpose you have in mind... not sure of the prices.
