| and to a vibe vs. rotary discussion.
In some sense that's what the thread *was* about. When you strip away
questions about fancy logo side panel weight, or cuteness/ugliness factor,
etc. and look at genuine reasons to consider such a machine, it comes time
to list the features that distinguish it from several other popular
machines. If the rotary pump is an important feature (most obvious reason
to consider this over, say, the Brewtus) then the field is appreciably
narrowed. If not, then thre are many more potential competitors, moreover
much of the difficulty in the machine's design is wasted energy.
That there is only a tiny handful of machines that have managed to shoehorn
a rotary pump internally into a home-friendly form factor is evidence that
this is a nontrivial thing to do, but the argument for any given machine
needs to be made that it is a feature, not a folly.
