Fascinating post - has anyone made a commercial high airflow drum
roaster? When you complete the roaster, pics would be appreciated.
Just FYI - my home made drum is 23" long by 10" in diameter and I use a
30 rpm motor and no evidence of scorched beans. My drum was made from
cold rolled steel sheet - 16 gauge I believe.
I have been roasting at an air temp above the roaster of 470F and
hitting the very beginning of second crack at around 15 minutes. I
will increase the temp to 490F in order to try and hit the very
beginning of second crack at 10 to 11 minutes and see how that works.
