Very good question, Barry. My response may strike you as lame; please
tell me if it does.

Whenever I make coffee using the Melitta pour-over cone and carafe, the
taste imprint is like that of no other method. That is, I can always
tell by tasting, regardless of waht coffee I have brewed, that the
coffee has come from my Melitta cone because of taste characteristics
whose nature I lack the sophistication to describe. However, the taste
I prefer is actually the taste of somewhat expensive drip machines, such
as the Bunn A10. I expect you'll tell me that I should be worrying
about the coffee as much as I do the coffeemaker, and I know you're
right. What I'm struggling to try to say is that I have convinced
myself that although I know the coffee from a Melitta is flavorful, its
particular imprint is something I can't quite get used to.

Even as I write to you, I'm not sure I'm making sense. Any thoughts?

Craig
