Actually Andy, the only one I think is "necessary" is the adjustment scale. Other than that it sounds pretty good.
Yeah, even if it's just a relative scale, some sort of adjustment indicator ought to be there and it should even be possible to make it pleasing to the eye. This beast is designed to grind for espresso, the repeatable adjustment range won't be all that large, but it needs to be there. I'm sure simple etched lines are far too mundane. Maybe borrow technology from digital setting circles used for telescopes. That would seem to be in line with the over-engineering in the rest of the machine.
