I recently posted that my Alp bit the dust. Craig provided plentious
suggestions for fixing. In the mean time, Swissmar declined to service
it, but said that they would sell me the new model (whatever they're
calling it) for 150 USD + S/H if I return the broken one. The Alp I
have is three or four years old, and has been used maybe 100-150 times.
No cracks, I keep it clean, but it's not going to run forever (if I can
get it running). I'm having trouble deciding if a new one would be
worth the $ even if I can fix the old one...since it's old and has been
problematic for a while (runs very cold).

Hi John, the old Alp up here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada used to go for $400 Canadian. A well known major outfit in downtown Toronto cleared out the old model for $400, then $380, then $350. The new model is currently listed at $649.95, a 62.5% increase in price!!!, a total ripoff!!!!
I'd go for it John!
Cheers!
Sincerely,
Craig.
