Coffee grinder cleaning with round white rice?

Dear group!
I have reached the point where i need to clean my grinder which has
become very oily and is loaded with ground coffee parts which are going
stale.
I have tried the chop-sticks thing but is only gets a bit off. I also
wipe cleaned the plastic parts, but that's not enough.
I have read the grinding round white rice cleans up everything, absorbs
the oils and actually renews the grinder. The only thing that i am
worried about is that the rice, which is much stiffer then coffee beans
will blunt the blades and wear them off.
any suggestions?
Thanks,
trev
.
